Udalbiltza calls to the participation to the mobilizations for the character official of the euskera (2006-12-15)[ categories: Udalbiltza ]
Euskal Herria is the country of the euskera. The linguistic rights belong to all the people, and we, like Euskal Herria’s citizens, have the right to study, to live and to work in euskera. All theEuskal Herria’s citizenship, as well as the next generations, have the right to live and to develop themselves in euskera, without any limit.
However, these rights are denied to us daily, like proof the reality of the euskera in the different territories, far from attaining the official character, the linguistic policies imposed from outside and the Nafaroa’s Law of the basque, that some honour. The euskera, the Euskal Herria’s own language suffered since a long time and is always suffering, of an harassing’s and scorn’s process, that the laws and the institutions which were imposed to us permit, not guaranteeing the development and the standardization of the euskera nor the official character of this one, so necessairy for its survival and its development. This injustice must be compensated, so we must articulate and manage all the legal, economic resources necaissary for that; in the same way, our people needs that the policies and the institutions guarantee them. Euskal Herria has the right to establish a linguistic policy that the citizenship's linguistic rights require: a national and sovereign linguistic policyto guaranteewhich is able to create all the necessary juridical implements to guarantee the recuperation of the euskera and all its social functions and which grants to the euskera the official character and the priority which correspond to a national language. Being given this, Udalbiltza will go to the demonstration which will take place tomorrow in the Iruñea’s streets, and it reaffirms itself, in the same way, in its engagement to continue to do firm steps in this sense, day after day, commune with commune, by establishing agreements of collaboration with the various social actors and by elaborating and by developing the report on the violation of the basque citizenship’s rights. |
