Demonstrations for the rights of exiles in Buenos Aires, Basque dance in New York, Euskara (Basque language) classes in México, Pelota tournaments in Montevideo or "korrikas" in Sydney. The Basque Diaspora is diverse and, in its own way, it lives defends and suffers for the Basque Country. It is a broad community spread throughout several continents, and it is organised in different ways. Their numbers are important in several Latin American countries, although those who in fact know of their Basque ancestry are but a small part: there are around four million Basques and descendants of Basques outside their country. Establishing and reinforcing the links within that community is one of the aims of Udalbiltza. Because the "eighth province" also has a right to speak and to be heard and to take part in the process of building the Basque Country, which is their country too.
