Udalbiltza emphasizes the support of the Idaho’s State’s to a durable peace in Euskal Herria (2006-05-16)[ temas: Udalbiltza ]
The congress of the Idaho’s American state approved the last April a support’s declaration to the Euskal Herria’s peace’s process and for the ways’ search which bring this people to the democracy. This resolution, which had already an historical antecedent "Joint Memorial N°14" approved in 2002, was saluted by Udalbiltza in an official note addressed to this initiative’s promoters.
The declaration approved by the Idaho’s Chamber of the Deputies and the Senate -where crowed the most of Basques in The USA- was promoted by the deputy Carlos Bilbao, who disposed of the state’s ex-secretary Pete Cenarrusa’s support. In this text, the Congress of Idaho emphasizes the organisation ETA’s decision to decree a ceasefire, whereas "they congratulate and speak highly of the Euskadi’s and Spain’s governments and all the parts implicated in Spain and in France for their actions to promote the violence’s arrest and to obtain a durable peace in Euskal Herria and in all the Europe". In that, the State of Idaho, "extends its encouragements and its support to these governments in their efforts in progress to establish a process which gives a durable peace, in agreement with the democratic vote’s process" which permits to obtain "an governmental autonomy’s adequate level for Euskal Herria". After publishing this resolution, Udalbiltza sent the deputy Carlos Bilbao, the Secretary of State Ben Ysursa, his predecessor Pete Cenarrusa and the Boise City’s mayor, David Bieter -all have a basque origin- a note congratulating them and thanking for this initiative. After having emphasized that "we’re open a new phase full of hope for Euskal Herria", the national institution signals that it will be a way "long and difficult". That’s why it emphasizes the international supports’ importance as the one receipted from Idaho. Udalbiltza adds in its note that the declaration made by this American state shows the diaspora’s disposition to work to obtain a peace’s and democracy’s definitive scenario for Euskal Herria. It adds that the Basque Community from Idaho gave proofs along these last years and it mentions the declarations approved by this state in 1972 and in 2002, oriented in the two cases to complain the democracy and the peace for their ancestors’ country. |
